Antarctica is hands-down the most beautiful place I've ever been to.

We were very fortunate to enjoy the most pleasant weather recorded for the season while we were in Antarctica.

Once we crossed the Drake Passage we had smooth sailing and warm temperatures.  The glaciers were spectacular and the penguins were adorable.

I'd like to thank my most excellent travel partners Dan and Shari for everything they did pre-, during, and post-trip!  It was a true pleasure to travel with the both of you!

If it wasn't for all eyeballs on the road at all times we could have been another statistic on the "death road".

HumorLet's not forget some of the classic quotes of the trip:  (I'm sure this section will continue to grow...)
  • "Hey...did they just say they spotted a whale on the other side of the ship?"  (okay, okay, a phrase I'm not so proud of but I REALLY wanted to get people out of my shot! It worked!...everyone immediately ran to the other side of the ship.)

  • "It's not like it's the end of the world or anything...oh wait!  Yes it is..."

  • "Well there's an interesting snow covered rock!" - Dan

  • As the sun paints the mountains pink at sunset   Dan:  "You see how the light catches that mountain?   Caryn: "Why yes, it's amazing"  Dan:  "Then you should shoot it!"

  • "Stop the yappin' and start snappin'!!"

  • "Let me get my head out of your ass."  "No problem, it's normally my own head in my own ass."

  • "Was there a sale on broccoli?"

Ship's BlogWe were very lucky to have Ornithologist, Jim Wilson on board during our journey.  He kept a daily blog of our journey which documents the wildlife we saw as well as weather conditions.  Thanks Jim!

Video

Be patient!
The video will take a minute or so to load.

I wish I would have thought to take more video of Antarctica.  This is the only one I have of it.  Enjoy the peacefulness of it all (minus the drill in the background.)
